This is a step by step tutorial to make you understand puppetSoul easly :
- Load puppet Soul and run the Builder

- The first time, puppetSoul is empty from any creature.
- Go to + and choose ‘Load From PuppetPark’. We will load a creature and modify it.
For the tutorial, we will start from an existing creature and finish it.

- A window appears. That’s the PuppetPark, where all ‘Templates’ are here.
Go to the ‘x_tutorial’ tab and choose ‘Ash’
To have a help window, sim[ple clic, to open it, double clic.

💡 See the options below? Let them by default for now. It means that you will copy the template somewhere on your drive.
A complete puppetSoul work is made of 2 files : the rig Maya file, and the puppetSoul description.

💡 The maya file is the BASE, and by default (but it can be change), it have to be called *_BASE.
That mean that this is here you will skin and do custom rigs.

💡 Once done, the puppetSoul build (the Karma) is apply. If something goes wrong, or if you want to adjust, you come back to the base. It's non-destructive

- A path is now asked. Put it somewhere on your drive, in a specifi folder for this character.
In this folder, the maya file will be copied and open, and the puppetSoul file will be copied in a puppetSoul folder, and open by puppet soul.
You have :he UI filled up :

- Upper Part : is where you manage you creature file. Here you can choose the working file, load and save. And more, we will see it...
- The Monks room: A monk is a rig action. Can be a body part, or a utility, like mirroring, cleaning, etc...
You read the monk action order from top to bottom.
- Monk Related Items : Where each monk get his essential objects / input
- A help for the selected monk. Each monk comes with a description.
Up from this help you have the Monk related Obj : all the Monk NEED to do his job. Without it, he will observe a mutic silence, but he wil watch you with all of his wisdom and you will know. You will know that you still have some task to do.
- Monk Properties : the options you give to the Monk. They are not essentials, but here you choose the specific behaviour of you monk. (For instance, an arm in Ik or fk, or both?
- You have the same for the properties : related objects, and help.

💡 Please note the orange arrow. The first '+' is, as we see, for adding creature, the second to add monk in the monastery, the third top add option to the selected monk.

<aside>
💡 Try it if your curious, but we will see that a bit later.

In the same time, you have the BASE file opened in Maya. The Base file is the Matya file where all Monks will be applied

At this level you can change whever you want : models, skin, skeleton, etc…
