This is a brief step by step tutorial to make you understand puppetSoul

  1. Load puppet Soul and run the Builder
  2. The first time, puppetSoul is empty from any creature. Don't panic, we will go over it!
  3. The only way to add (create or load) creatures is on the first '+' button

  1. For the tutorial, we will start from an existing creature and finish it.

  2. Hit the '+' and choose 'from template.

  1. A window appears. Go to 4_bird, and choose “richard” by double clicking on it. (simple clic will just open a description).

Be sure you have the same options selected as in the image : load skeleton choosen + load sequence checked + open as copy checked.

<aside> 💡 See the options below? Let them by default for now. It means that you will copy the template somewhere on your drive. A complete puppetSoul work is made of 2 files : the rig Maya file, and the puppetSoul description.

<aside> 💡 The maya file is the BASE, and by default (but it can be change), it have to be called *_BASE. That mean that this is here you will skin and do custom rigs.

<aside> 💡 Once done, the puppetSoul build (the Karma) is apply. If something goes wrong, or if you want to adjust, you come back to the base. It's non-destructive

  1. A path is now asked. Put it somewhere on your drive. In this folder, the maya file will be copied and open, and the puppetSoul file will be copied in a puppetSoul folder, and open by puppet soul.
